PA46 SET Class Rating
UK CAA and FAA Piper PA46 flight training on all models of the PA46 including both turbine and piston engine versions.
The full course consists of two days theory training and 10 hours flight training with a PA46 CRI.
Flight & Theoretical Knowledge Training:
The PA46 SET training syllabus contains a total of:
16 hours of theoretical knowledge instruction
Theoretical Knowledge Exam (conducted in-house,100 questions)
Minimum of 10 hours of flight training
Licence Skill Test (UK CAA course only) with our in-house Examiner
The training takes approximately 4-5 days to complete.
Pre-Entry Requirements:
Hold at least an UK CAA, FAA or ICAO PPL(A)
Have at least 200 hours total pilot experience and 70 hours PIC*
Hold the High Performance Aeroplane Knowledge Course** (UK CAA courses only);
or
Have passed the UK CAA ATPL(A) examinations;
or
Hold an ICAO ATPL(A) or CPL(A)/IR with theoretical knowledge credit for ATPL(A)
* This requirement only applies to the PA46 turbine course. Since the PA46 piston engine powered models is an SEP (Land) it just require's a PPL(A).
** Booker Aviation can deliver the High Performance Aircraft (HPA) course for those pilots who require it.
Credits For Previous Experience:
Our Head of Training will assess the flying experience of each trainee. The approved course of training may be modified to account for his or her previous experience on similar aircraft types. A similar type is considered to be any other aircraft classed as a Single Pilot High Performance Aeroplane (SP HPA).
ICAO Conversions:
If you are a current PA46 turbine pilot operating on the basis of an ICAO licence (e.g. FAA, EASA) We can assist you in gaining an UK CAA PA46 SET Class Rating. Our ICAO conversion course takes approximately 2 full days to complete and includes all of the mandatory training items conducted in the full course. There is no minimum flight training requirements, however, most clients complete approximately 4 hours flight training prior to completing the Class Rating Skill Test.
Differences Training:
If you require differences training between all models of the PA46 Meridian, Jet Prop or the latest M500/M600 series our team has the experience of all models.
Revalidation/Renewal:
Validity: 24 months
Revalidation:
Within the 3 months preceding the expiry date of the rating, pass a proficiency check in the relevant class with an examiner law Appendix 9 to Commission Regulation (EU) No 1178/2011
Renewal:
(a) Refresher training at an ATO, when necessary to reach the level of proficiency necessary to safely operate the relevant class of aircraft
AND
(b) pass a proficiency check
Rating Expiry Dates:
The UK CAA ihas adopted the rule given in Part ARA.FCL.215 extending the validity period to the end of the month
Initial Issue:
Test date extended to the end of the month plus rating validity period. Entered in the licence by the UK CAA
Renewal:
Test date extended to the end of the month plus rating validity period. Entered in the licence by the examiner
Revalidation:
Current expiry date extended to the end of the month plus rating validity period if carried out in the laid down period before expiry. Entered in the licence by the examiner.
