The Instrument Rating (restricted), previously known as the IMC is a rating that can be added onto the PPL allowing pilots to fly under instrument flight rules in the UK.
This course teaches a more procedural type of flying and is often quoted by pilots as the most valuable rating they've added to their license.
If you are the holder of an IMC, IRR, or are considering the course, it's worth knowing that your IFR experience with this rating can count towards the competency based instrument rating on multi engine or single engine aircraft.
